Because I didn't have enough unfinished drawings in the works, of course
I'm redesigning Éclair as she might appear in sorXa's universe (partly in honor of Lesbian Visibility Week, seeing as she's gay as hell, but also I'd wanted to do this design anyway), but I'm having trouble figuring out what to do with... well, pretty much everything from the waist down, really. In her old fantasy design as a D&D character, I'd considered her sash & pouches to be integral, with that ensemble even appearing in her earliest prototype design:

ca. May 2015, drawn shortly after seeing Mad Max: Fury Road
Unfortunately, I'm having a hard time figuring out how to reconcile that with her new anthropoid look, in part because my intent was for anthropoids in this setting to fall somewhere between MM Zero and ZX-era reploids (and humanoids) and Battle Network's NetNavis in terms of how much clothing they wear (i.e. ranging from "a bit less than most humans would be comfortable wearing" to "no clothes at all"), and in part because I really liked my idea for the sleeveless jacket replacing her old long coat, but the length of it poses some problems with that visually...
I see a few options, but I'd love for others' input since I'm not super happy with either of them:
- Shorten the jacket/vest to about rib height. This doesn't really solve the problem of what to do with her legs, just her waist/hips, but it's a start at least? I guess? It also doesn't solve the issue of what the whole assemblage should look like in this iteration, which is another problem. There's also the issue of my having already given sorXa a cropped jacket, which would feel repetitive given that both of them are heavily derived from myself, but with a lot of the same twists (and are thus quite similar in a lot of ways)
- Go with a discrete pelvis styled after the "underpants Mega Men from ZX/ZXA, but only have the circular lights be a different color than her synthetic skin. Again, this doesn't solve the legs problem, but it at least solves that "what should it look like?" issue by evoking the medallion. Unfortunately it's not much of a belt, though, but then again her new cargo jacket has a lot of pockets, so maybe that's less of an issue? (Here's what that "discrete pelvis" thing looks like, for the record:)
