I think that's fair and reasonable! I know I'm quite guilty of that myself, but after some thought, I think saying "You have a good base to work from to make the changes I believe you'd be happier for" is more on point to what I mean.
Honestly I think you've only said something close to this maybe once or twice?
You've been totally fine and nothing but supportive.
I think this is far more an issue with cis friends tbh
