haven't done a long-form cohost post yet, but there's only one thing that it could possibly be about - the VS mode from 1992 puzzle classic Yoshi's Cookie for the NES (later ported to GB, SNES, GCN in japan only, and Wii VC for a hot minute before being pulled), and the set of romhacks i made for it last year to celebrate its 30th anniversary
Yoshi's Cookie Anniversary Edition has two versions: V1 has fun new cookies, and V2 remakes the original cookies with 2-color sprites sprites, meaning i could give each cookie a uniquely readable palette without altering any code (which i still have no idea how to do)
both versions share new menu palettes, art of mario & yoshi, and UI elements... also i changed the name of the powerup that lets you control your opponent's board (it's "horse" now, since this whole game is based on the horse that mario rides)

the patches for Yoshi's Cookie Anniversary Edition are available on itch.io! obviously i can't supply you the base Yoshi's Cookie rom (ask jason), but i did write the above tutorial on how to apply the patch (step 6 only applies if you're using fightcade, otherwise just enjoy it on your emulator of choice)
The YoCoAnEd zip file also special instructions on how to disable the timer while practicing vs mode solo; disable your idle opponent's timer so rounds last longer than 25 seconds and/or disable your own timer to practice all clear gaming at your own pace

later on in 2022 i would make my own super-readable cook-em-up with 1P/practice modes, THERE WAS A MIXUP AT THE FACTORY!, but that's a story for another post...
in the meantime, see you in fightcade!
