I've been playing Katamari Damacy Reroll (my first experience with the series) and yeah obviously you could go on at length about the vibes and the music and the art and the overall sublime sense of whimsy that comes with rolling everything up into a big ball, but I think my favourite thing is all the weird little micro-scenes that you can find in the levels.
Obviously there's a lot of shit that's just scattered around for the sake of being rolled up (or to serve as breadcrumbs), but there's also a strong through-line of people (and other creatures) wrapped up in funny or absurd scenarios. They can be easy to miss when you're frantically rolling around—I do sort of wish you could unlock a 'relaxed' mode that would let you explore all the levels without a timer—but I think part of the appeal is the breakneck pace at which they're thrown at you. By the time you're finished processing the scene you just hoovered up, there's already something new bearing down on you.
Perfect game, flawless game. The King of the Cosmos is the fucking worst and I love it.
