Alongside the CD release today, disk union has just posted the soundtrack for the 1993 SFC RPG Neugier: Umi to Kaze no Kodō to their bandcamp page. Surprisingly, they've released it under the localized name for the cancelled US release: The Journey Home: Quest for the Throne. YMO's Yukihiro Takahashi served as music producer for the game, with Hiroya Hatsushiba doing the sound programming.

This is the first soundtrack from disk union's CASSETRON retro VGM imprint to show up on bandcamp, not counting Donut Dodo (previously self-released by the composer) or Kaze no Notam (distributed by disk union, but not on the CASSETRON label). It's also available on the usual set of digital platforms.

Two more soundtracks below the fold.

The complete WORLD OF HORROR soundtrack was released on (and so far exclusively to) Steam this week. This includes 9 additional tracks from Garoslaw aka ArcOfDream (MONOLITH) on top of Qwesta's 12 original early access tracks. Those same 12 tracks are also on the first-run bonus CD included with playism's physical PS4/Switch releases, which came out last week.

It's $14.99 standalone, but there's also a game+soundtrack bundle for a minor discount.

Contra vinyl
I have not-really-complicated-but-definitely-bad takes on 1) VGM vinyl releases vis-à-vis the retro/collector/limited-run grifter economy and 2) vinyl as a format persisting this far into the 21st century, but my love for Contra: Shattered Soldier compels me to point out that the usual suspects are putting out a double LP re-release of the 2002 CD soundtrack. I'd say this is for collectors only, because judging by the tracklist and considering every other Konami vinyl STS has put out, it'll be a straight CD-to-wax conversion. And as good as the soundtrack is, the CD is a severely compromised release riddled with bad cutoffs and early fades compared to the source tracks. You're better off with a gamerip. The grungy art, while appropriate, doesn't feel worthy of wall mounting imo.
