Composer Yuji Takenouchi has been teasing the project all year long, and Clarice Disc / City Connection finally announced it for release on November 29: a 2-CD edition of Konami's Mystic Warriors soundtrack.
Previously released as part of a compilation over 30 years ago, this new edition features a brand new recording from an original arcade board and a second disc full of new arrangements (some of which might not be that new) with Raiden series composer Go Sato playing bass on some of them.
It's available from the Clarice Disc Shop with an option for overseas purchases via Buyee, which I can vouch for, but it'll probably be up for order on a site like CDJapan soon enough.
Takenouchi dropping more surprises on twitter, confirming Mystic Warriors is just the first in a series of Konami soundtrack (re-)releases from Clarice Disc. After this comes:
- Gaiapolis (also on the same compilation as the first Mystic Warriors release)
- Polygonet Commanders (previously released on this comp)
- Namachūkei 68 (part of the first "Legend of Game Music" comp)
- Golfing Greats 2 (a VERY short soundtrack so uhhh they're gonna have to pad this)
- And so on...!
And in looking all this up I discovered that they're all Yuji Takenouchi works, so that's why it's the way it is 🙂
