Gun for hire, Radical Entertainment, worked on all the classics: The Simpsons: Hit & Run, Mario is Missing! All your favorites! They also made Scarface: The World Is Yours on PlayStation 2, but in 2006? That's four years after Grand Theft Auto: Vice City already did exactly that. Hell, the sequel, San Andreas, was out by then.
While fully redundant, the GTA clone has a few aces up its sleeve. For one, several actors from the 1983 movie reprised roles, as well as a script by American History X writer, David McKenna? The main character also doesn't harm civilians. Most notably, however, is the game's resource called "Balls" that fill a "Balls meter," so you can shoot people better, in slow motion. That's video games, baby!🙏
This was one of the very first discs I burned to play on a softmodded Wii, and I loved it for all its big-swinging ambition and dedication to the source material. This and Saints Row 2/3 feel like the only games that even tried to get past being mere GTA clones. It'd be nice to see the PC version get fixed up for modern systems someday.
