City Connection just announced JALECOlle Famicom Edition, a new line of emulated Famicom/NES reissues from the Jaleco catalogue—specifically, they're skipping over the marquee games like City Connection and MoePro in favour of "10+α" deeper cuts, primarily in the action game genre and including games that have never been reissued on consoles before, at a pace of roughly once a month and priced around ¥1000 each.
The format and frontend are essentially identical to those seen with other City Connection/Empty Clip projects like Hebereke Enjoy Edition, Abarenbo Tengu & Zombie Nation, etc: they offer save states, rewind, screen options, galleries for scanned items like the box and manual, achievements, etc as well as specific on-screen border gadgets that display extra/hidden game info and other specialised per-game settings. Most notably, they're expanding on Hebereke Enjoy Edition's "Special Snap" feature, which allowed you to view a subtitled gallery of all the Japanese version's text in English and vice-versa, by allowing you to access live subtitles in-game (which includes new localisations for games that were only in one language or the other). They'll also feature arrangements of relevant tunes in the menus, provided by Daisuke Matsumoto (who jumped ship from Cave a few years ago, ICYMI)
They announced three games this stream: Pinball Quest, due out August 1, as well as Yokai Club, out August 8, and Bio Senshi DAN, which has an ETA of September. (The previewed arrange tunes all but confirm Lord of King/Astyanax and Magical John/Totally Rad, too...) I'm particularly curious to see is Bio Senshi DAN might include the authentic, unreleased "Bashi Bazook - Morphoid Masher" localisation that was dumped back in the day, but the stream didn't indicate as such. It's also worth pointing out that the Jaleco FC collection they announced years ago included these games alongside Exerion, Argus, Rodland and the unreleased Famicom port of Soldam, and we know City Connection's president has other unreleased FC stuff in the vault, so that "+α" may be doing a lot of heavy lifting...
edit: US Pinball Quest listing is up, $7.99
