reading this interview that porpentine gave and having thoughts on gamemaking.
it is for the insane, that's for sure.
and, like, what is a game? it's a bit perverse if you think about it. a game is a system of rules and a player is bound by those rules. you're telling me, what, the player isn't supposed to let that HP bar fall too low? press the button with the correct timing to dodge? not spend all their spells unwisely? like a trained fucking animal. and mastery of a game is, again what, an internalization of these rules? an embodiment of them? an expression?
it's carceral. it's hot.
I'm convinced now that gamemaking is fully within the realm of perverts and fetishists. you gotta have that dog in you. so to speak.
