Well, it's quite heavy. The main character has ideations about the end of her own life, and there's quite a bit of child abuse that is framed as such unlike many other fantasy anime.
The show has a lot of dark and depressing concepts to wrestle with: even though most shows don't handle it with the best grace, I think this one does it well enough that even I can handle the heaviest it throws at me.
They also tend to add a metaphysical element to it, and if you practice witchcraft you'll be pleased and horrified by the things that happen to many of the characters.
