Like, this is a language that's spoken right next to Austria, and barely three hours by car from Italy:

But just look at this! Like, it's so different from the languages around it in so many ways, and due to millennia of divergence, it's also massively different from other close-ish relatives like Finnish!

And its closest relatives seem to be Khanty and Mansi further east, grouped together in a proposed Ugric language family that's separate from other Uralic branches like Samodeic (previously Samoyedic), Saamic, and Finnic.
