as i attempt to engage the healthcare systems of the us in earnest for the first time in years, i keep thinking about how you occasionally see stats like "socialized medicine would save the us x billion dollars and y thousand preventable deaths a year" and how i cannot help but read it as "the united states pays corporations billions of dollars to kill thousands upon thousands of people, on purpose"
