I want to make an Analog Horror thing but also I don't want to. Any originalism that happens in this space gets recycled into the ground so hard that the parodies look indistinguishable from the legitimate attempts.

It's easier to follow the examples you've seen work than to like... do something unique and interesting to build off of the examples you've seen work. And unfortunately, horror is perpetually seen as the entry level for video arts.
