God, Pokemon Scarlet is almost tragic. There's such a good game buried in there, with really smart decisions all over the place that bring it so close to being the game that Pokemon really needed to be since about, X and Y. I love that you can carry around your entire collection no matter where you go, and while I didn't expect to like the always-on Exp Share, it drastically cuts down on grinding time and lets you swap mons out on the fly. Hell, even the complete lack of level scaling is great because by the time I circled around and started up the east side of the map, it gave me a chance to to swap out my entire team and essentially speedrun a B team and level some guys that fill some holes the A team was lacking.
Genuinely, if the game didn't run like ass, it would be the best game in the series without question. Hopefully it gets some patches sooner rather than later.
