Since mid-january I've been putting together this little 8 chapter story set during the events of Zeta and ZZ Gundam. It's about newtypes, loyalty, gay obsession, incredibly evil women, shooting guns (human-sized and mobile suit-sized) and lots of other things.

I've been working on this alongside Letter (and now my NaNoReNo project) so I've only written two and a bit chapters so far, but I figured I'd publish the first chapter anyway.

It's been fun to write, and an interesting challenge for my VN-centric skillset, as well as a nice excuse to spend every day listening to the Zeta Gundam and Char's Counterattack soundtracks. I'm excited to get to the really meaty stuff in the latter half!

so among the Deep Weeb it's fairly common knowledge that 1980s anime series Record of Lodoss War found its start as writeups of a D&D campaign the series creator GMed.

What I didn't know until today:

  • that D&D campaign in its entirety was the result of a PR op by D&D's Japanese publisher, which had commissioned a pop culture magazine for a series of articles about what tabletop RPGs are and how D&D specifically works
  • some time in 2021, someone finally managed to source copies of these articles that had long been lost due to licensing issues preventing reprints, translated them to English, and uploaded the result to the Internet Archive: https://archive.org/details/record-of-lodoss-war-comptiq-magazine-english-translation
