I want new RED players to use the stat arrays and skill packages on their first PC so they can know what these numbs do before they do silly things with them knowing not that they’re making a broken character. This isn’t a subtweet at my home table. I am just in too many one shots where this is happening and it’s like watching a car crash in slow motion

“You just had a perfectly good spread from the template that lets you hit a variety of basic DVs, why did you make a new one where you now can’t hit the broad side of a barn?”

I’m seeing a techie put 1,000eb of their chargen money down on a cyberdeck. I see a lawman take neural ware and interface plugs for no clear reason. I want Stinger to bully them as gonks but I know this is a young ruleset and you need to give a good first impression

They’re all alright. Like they put the points in the things typical to the class, like the netrunner has a proper investment in electronics/security tech, the lawman has the full array of investigative verbs, that sort of thing. On the other hand the stat arrays are deliberately non minmaxed so you’ll probably get something idiosyncratic on start, and once you graduate to complete package you can figure out what you liked and disliked about it. I got Sharks out of this process, which was so far from my first thought of what a netrunner is but congealed into something that made so much sense, so I don’t knock it
