It was one of those ones that sprayed cool water on you while it hit you with the laser. Film’s on in three hours

An adorable baby boy stomping and swimming around (he’s too big). Also really complicated self-grappling around the Imperial Navy, but not to a point of actual critique. I was stuck sitting next to two zoomers who kept taking photos with the flash on

it's my favourite cus it's such a shrug to make the premise work, but the premise is pretty dope. i said earlier that this really isn't a critique of the Imperial Navy so much as an attempt to wash its own hands and move on, but the turn of "here's all these decommissioned destroyers and wooden mine sweepers, crewed by people who have to use them differently from when they were in a fascist army, with a different mindset from that fascist army" is still an engaging watch.

that's tedious of me but i just have to note how conservative the thing is, out of habit more than anything else. gozilla films are nationalistic, or at least its ideas of what the nation is or ought to be or what it has been defined by is its most pressing object. it feels like it's obviously in conversation with Shin, so I might have to bump Shin at some point. i feel like i'm coming at this thing backwards, but that may be by design
