Getter Robo Arc (2021) is in the unenviable position of being this love letter and franchise send off while the animation feels like it’s held together by spit and duct tape
Which if you think about it, having a rough production is the most Getter thing a production like this can do
It’s very much one of those productions held together by two things:
One is the soundtrack. They got Jam Project to blast the fuck off
And maybe this is a personal bias, but I love the dub. Scream into those mics, boys. Dudes rock
None of this is attached to characters that are consistently on model. If it weren’t for the mecha being CG, it could be a lot worse and that’s too bad given the source material
Also the sfx is really goddamn weird. The fooley has a habit of making itself noticeable when it clearly doesn’t want to be
one of the strangest goddamn choices is that they associate the Andromeda Stelleration with the sound of a geiger counter. what's making the sound? idk. in theory i guess it's supposed to reflect them sounding like locusts albeit mechanical, but, y'know, that's the sound of ambient radiation. so for a bit, i thought this was a sound associated with getter rays. just a weird choice
