Had a naro-kei moment. a tournament arc session on the LC i'm on had a drop off. i pitched in at the last minute to fill this player's slot, since the games didn't begin yet. this is the moderator who's been in my corner offering advice and emotional support and on the face of it we were both happy to get to rp on table pc-to-pc. a nice time with one of the nicest people i know
he's also the rudest minmaxer in existence. my two body score stinger (kind of like a con score of 3) went up against what's called a daddy shark build, a martial arts pc borged out to turn people into red mist on multiple swings a round who is also benefitting from drug buffs without the long term drawbacks (ironically this is a medtech strat, using just rapidetox). think of a cross between a therapist, a power loader, and hulk hogan. also his pc was a committed communist leading an org engaged in soup kitchens and mutual aid. big grappler baki energy
he was still a martial arts character, though. as much MOVE he had (and everything under the sun letting him move faster), and as many tricks he had up his sleeve to rebound from damage/critical hits, he had to get within 2 metres to start attacking. that meant i could always hit first from held action rifle shots when he entered line of sight. reduced him to half health, ablated his armour considerably, wasted one of his speedheals (which he then couldn't use in subsequent rounds), and struck multiple critical injuries that forced him to withdraw and lick his wounds (which made little difference if he'd still have to always enter line of sight). people thought Stinger was a goner from the jump, but nah, she held out for several rounds doing considerable damage (some of which disrupting his turns and combinations through crits) and evading most of his attacks before she got tko'ed
I could not have won (my evasion was high, but so was his attack bases - my rifle was also 3d printed Soviet rot prone to jamming), but I could not have had a more sublime run as a glass cannon. best time i've ever had in this ruleset
