Yesterday I spectated a martial arts base 14 nomad and a dispatch operator with the same combat bases as Marge Gunderson from Fargo (1996) kill a Militech full borg. It was one of those fights where they had him in death saves and truckloads of crit injuries, but it was still a potentially lethal encounter for the two. We were convinced the nomad was doomed, but the dice said no on all his death saves operating in normal human limits

This was someone else’s spotlight gig, to boot. Their Raiden expy and all the other combat monsters were fleeing on a truck after being pelted by the borg’s rapid fire grenade launcher and clutching half the mission objective. To be clear, they were also torn by this in and out of character. They did serious chip damage this guy (unfortunately almost all damage to borgs is chip damage due to their lack of standard wound penalties and the like) and they downed another borg, but one pc needed stabilization and the rest were swimming in crit effects. The nomad and NCPD dispatch got left behind due to their Trauma Team backup bugging out and the general comedy of errors that happens when you face a RoF2 grenade launcher in a vehicle

The encounter took eight hours and there were that many PCs due to the density and advertised-lethal nature of it. The role 4 nomad and lawman’s standoff took at least one hour but felt like eons. I did not apply my PCs to this one under the assumption and warning from the game master that they’d be mulched, so honestly hats off to the gm for picking the people with starting characters they were both comfortable losing but also canny enough to clutch with anyway (e.g. while the Raiden was deliberating and bantering with the borg over radio, the nomad limped behind him and delivered a sneak attack head shot that got the crowd hollering)

The Marge Gunderson was great. They were playing a Lawman, which is notorious for not having great action economy due to calling backup, so their entire thing was complimentary checks to other PCs and tactics rolls to control backup. This made the four beat cops that entered the fray against a Militech platoon damned effected (they did not survive, though), and it was that character’s psychology comps that helped give the nomad an edge going fist-to-fist with a sundowner expy
