Maybe the instructions made sense for people writing it by hand, but they demanded “one page single spaced and approximately two pages double spaced” for a total of five short answers. Followed by a 5-7 page essay.

Now I have a severe written language disability and need to write everything out by a word processor. You wouldn’t know it here, and that’s because I shoot from the hip/have endured an ungodly lot to get to this point. A page single spaced is 500 words. I ran the numbers and to complete this exam you would have to be typing 5,000 words. No human fucking being can do that and make a coherent argument in one sitting (they wanted it to be a proper essay with a thesis, intro, body, conclusion).

The neurotypicals had three hours to sink that shot and this is why I believe something went wrong. I had time and a half. I wrote the short answers and by the essay I realised that by the time I synthesised a structure and argumentative thrust I’d be out of time.

I’m emailing my ta, and it’s not going to go well because I talked to him about this during class and he stared at me like a deer in the headlights. Nobody teaching this course has run into this problem, likely because the pandemic made them forget.

Prof got back to me with a non answer. I think this one’s a wash. Going forward I have to take this shit all the way upstairs as soon as the instructors start talking about the format

Sent an email with Student Accessibility Services cc'ed and she replied with a lecture cc'ing the TA and department. I take some solace in knowing she's sensitive because it's a very bad look
