I used to live in a town just by the anchorage spot for one of the biggest ports on the continent. Sometimes you'd see dozens of cargo ships hanging out there - waiting patiently for a space to open up to so they could dock.
At night their lights would drift on the dark see and I'd wonder what the people on them were doing in there, just a couple kilometers away, but living lives completely alien to me.
Were they a different kind of bored, at least?
