Gonna turn to the Internet for assistance again. Anyone familiar with good mechanical keyboards? Thinking about going tenkeyless to save on the desk space, but really I just care about having a keyboard will all the keys working.
I won't deny looking at Ducky keyboards purely because duck.
tenkeyless is great, more compact and can be more ergonomic if you use a mouse because you don’t have to reach out as far to use it.
my personal favorite brand is leopold (they’re extremely solid and sound great), but there’s really a great amount of choice and so much of them are really nice. i found the one ducky keyboard i tried to make pinging sounds which personally drove me nuts but the person i gifted it to has no issues with it so YMMV :) plus ducky keyboards have some beautiful designs.
Keychron keyboards are nice, but a little bit expensive. They're usually easy to customize, though, which is great if you're indecisive.
Microcenter has leaned really heavily into selling mechanical keyboards, lately, so it might be possible to look around there for a deal if there's one near you. I'd check their website first, though; sometimes they'll actually mark it up from the manufacturer, but also the manufacturer may not be including shipping cost in their website.
TKLs are neat, but when I'm doing office or coding work I find that I really end up missing the numpad for punching in long series of numbers. At home, for games, I find this to be much less of a problem, though I still sometimes miss the numpad as a "macro pad" for some games (FFXIV, sim games, etc.)
