for some time now i have been working on a Sparked by Resistance game called SUNBLACK, which is about queer superpsychics solving mysteries in a city that sits on the overlap of two alternate worlds. here is, roughly, the pitch:

They called it Collision Day, and it changed our worlds forever.

From the leafside came humankind as you know them, emerging what was once part of California. From the rootside came a humankind you’ve never seen before: beings of wood and stone and metal, hailing from an Earth with no sun but thick with life. Together, we took the fragments of our old cities and built a new place to live: Sunblack.

But something else found its way to Sunblack on Collision Day: the Solum, the soil between worlds, from which writhing and colossal things poke their beaks and eyes and feelers into our city. Our worlds have been touched by Solic phenomena before, but never flooded, and the unreality of the interworld’s shining matter has written a psychic power into your very soul.

But your soul's a complicated thing. That's the trouble with growing up queer: you are a perpetual fuckup and freak eternal, ready-made to take the blame for society's ills. For centuries, on root and leaf both, you've been stuck as outcast and scapegoat, with your voice as the only weapon you have against those bigger than yourself.

No more. Now nothing stands between your thoughts and the world. This is your chance to show every Earth that will ever be what you really are. Make the most of it.

this post is, in fact, a sunblack ability; it comes from the ECHO class, which i have described as an "investigator and living psychometer." i've got more waiting in the wings too! it will probably be a minute before this game sees a playtest release; i might do some private testing in smaller groups before i even put an alpha out, on account of i have learned from my mistakes in not playtesting SFTD enough. but while i do try and keep it on the backburner relative to songs so i can ensure that songs itself does get finished, i think i can safely say that it's a thing that exists. so! that's sunblack. you can expect to see bits and pieces of it on here too now.
