My actual nuanced response: I love them aesthetically, but I think putting any sort of monster—especially any concrete and not completely abstract one—in them spoils them entirely. Let them be empty stygian labyrinths! They were far more terrifying empty, whether or not there was a way out of them. I definitely think Despia Habitat speaks to some more primal and aesthetically pleasable part of my brain, so I am very keen on that variation.
