when i was a kid, the very first time i ever realized i was watching the first episode of a tv show was the first episode of 3-2-1 contact. and because in that episode, they show the musicians recording the theme song, i simply assumed that this was standard practice for ALL tv shows. i eagerly awaited the repeat of muppet babies or alf or whatever where they would show me a full ten minute segment of session musicians recording the theme but sadly it never happened

Imagine if the first episode of The X-Files was about them investigating "mysterious alien signals" and as they receive more and more of them it builds up into the full themetune
