I don't really follow a lot of the Games Workshop news lately, but I'm on the periphery of a few groups that are really plugged into it, and today it was announced that the next episode of one of the (surprisingly well-animated) CG shows is just straight-up going to feature a female Custodian, armoured up and kicking ass. So no, a 'rogue intern' did not post something on Twitter that 'people were fired for,' according to someone's dad who totally works at Nintendo and lives in another Canada...

Watching the outrage farming nerd boys on Twitter is delicious.

As much as GW sucks this is objectively cool both for normal reasons (more cool gal miniatures for warhammer) and awesome reasons (the amount the chuds are going to be pissed off by this)

The only downside is now I kinda want to get some custodes, especially if they make a kill team box with ladies on in it.

There's a very different takeaway from how it was handled, which was to say that it's 'always been this way in the Warhammer 40,000 universe' versus what people were getting mad about - which was not how it was said - 'it has always been this way in reality and we don't care what Lexicanum says.'

I was (naively) surprised this was as explosive as it was. GW already established that female Custodes were a thing. Are they going to react to every-single-instance of female Custodes this way? Are they still going to be reacting this way to female Custodes 2 years from now?

It's the usual cast of faux culture war grifters that make a few cents on every tweet where they can whip a few nerds into a frenzy by reminding them how they were cruelly lied to by GW, or some other such bunk. The outrage comes mostly from outside the fandom, which is both hilarious and sad.
