Happy New Year! Time comes for us all, and the only certainty is there will be new events on the KRITIQAL Discord server as we wait for the sun's embrace. The help you wring in 2024, here's what our various clubs will be up to:
🎮Game Club
Starting the year by looking back, we'll be playing Perfect Tides (Three Bees, 2022), a melancholy point-and-click adventure game about growing up online in the 00s. Nothing better than a fake AIM interface.
And as a reminder, we our continuing our Final Fantasy XIII long play. This month we'll get through chapters 11 and 12 (almost time to decide about XIII-2...).
🎥Movie Club
In a change for this year, we'll be scaling back how many scheduled movie clubs we run from 3-5 to 1. Mostly, I just need a break, but also this helps make room for more impromptu movie nights. In any case, January's film is Ghost World (Terry Zwigoff, 2001), the live action adaptation of Daniel Clowes' seminal comic. Daria who?
📖Book Club
Passing the halfway point, we are continuing our reading of Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou (Hitoshi Ashinano, 1994-2006) with chapters chapters 83-111. There's no internet in this series (yet) but I know Konone is a poster.
