I've been advocating to get off of any Elon owned platform to my friends for awhile now, but I hear the same things I always here every time, "That's where all of my engagement is, and I don't wanna build up another follow base on another platform." Even knowing what you and I know, they still keep using the platform for the same reason.
Yeah it's really short-sighted too because if engagement is what they're after, then they might as well start rebuilding elsewhere now, because the engagement there is dwindling as people do what they're too scared to. Oh well, maybe someday
I'm glad you bring this up, because I think it was mere weeks before Twitter rebranded to "X" that I joined Bluesky. I knew I'd start with nothing, but eventually nothing becomes something. But yeah I feel you here.
