I used to read the book once or twice a year, when I was a young weeb.
I kind of want to go back and reread the book now. I still have it on my shelf. It's one of the books my grandfather gave me when I was a young teen, along with the Lord of the Rings, the Hobbit, and a bunch of trashy 90s fantasy novels.
My memory of the book is hazy enough that I can't quite place what they changed. But I feel at once there are some deviations from the book and that they got most of the spirit of it right.
What really interests me is that it feels like they ended the season in a way that they could totally be done with it, but also kind of teased a season 2.
