When Avengers first came out I really liked it. Every time I watch it, I like it less. This as been true of most of the big ensemble Marvel films.

The first time I saw Solo, I thought there were bits of a fun heist movie that were dragged down by needing to be a Han Solo origin story.

I don't think that initial assessment is wrong, necessarily. But I find each time I watch it I care less about the warts and enjoy the good bits more.

Also, Enfys Nest remains the best thing in Disney STAR WARS outside of Andor.

Enfys Nest makes the film imo. Without her, the third act flops and kills any existing enthusiasm.

I enjoyed watching it, just wish there were fewer "let's explain the origin of every line from Han Solo in A New Hope" moments. It means Han stayed relatively static from the end of Solo to the start of ANH, a gap of what... 10? 15 years? I am certainly not the same person I was 10 years ago, and I expect that Han (being mid 20s) would change a lot as well. Leaves no room for him to have other exciting moments that shaped him too.

I went into Solo with pointless nerd resentment about Disney de-canonizing the EU so I mostly interpreted it as "probably some stuff Han made up while trying to cheat people at cards" and it worked great

like canon is made up anyway and the movie is clearly from Han's perspective, I actually wish they had done a whole series of them that were all wildly conflicting just to emphasize that

But it does have Enfys Nest.

I really wish they would do more with the character in other shows or films. Or, like, do an Enfys Nest and the Cloud Raiders miniseries.

I did really like the double bluff in the climax and the ultimate resolution of Han and Beckett's relationship. A lot of other winks to setting up Han-isms didn't really work, but ending it on Han Shoots First felt good to me.
