Apple just published their algorithm to 1) detect if flashing lights in a video are severe enough to be a potential photosensitive epilepsy risk and then 2) reduce that flashing to a safer level! This is one of the new accessibility systems they've put in iOS 16.4, and it's available under the MIT license in Swift, Matlab, and Wolfram Mathematica along with a paper explaining how it works! Thanks to @asie for pointing this out to me!

I wonder if it’ll make those “steamed hams but it’s different video/audio file” meme videos watchable by virtue of reducing how harshly they flash up to 30-60 different images per second
Accessibility is just about the only thing Apple gets consistently correct and I wish the rest of the industry kept up with them on it
