tumblr rebagel that brought all this to my attention and I am more or less regurgitating: https://rainbowbarnacle.tumblr.com/post/701459661948403712
Taking it from the top:

  • Homestuck was a webcomic that had way more than just still images in it: custom music, interactive games, video, etc.
  • No surprise that quite a lot of it was made in Flash.
  • You may recall that these days Flash is kill.
  • This makes going back to experience it now a bit of a thing.
  • So some enterprising madmen, as a fan endeavor, created the Unofficial Homestuck Collection. This is basically a self-contained offline browser plus all the Homestuck files, so you can work your way through Homestuck with none of the bits missing or broken, experiencing it as it originally was.

  • (Technically they've got more than just Homestuck if you're interested:)
    https://bambosh.dev/unofficial-homestuck-collection/faq.html
  • You may know, or have heard, that there's more than one major character in Homestuck. (Understatement.)
  • You may also know, or have heard, that there's some timey-wimey nonsense. (Understatement.)
  • So additional madlads have made the Homestuck POV Cam for the UCH. This extension/addon lets you experience the UHC chronologically from a given character's point of view.

So yeah. If that's a thing of interest to you, go nuts. If you just want to marvel at fan ingenuity and effort from a safe distance, behold. If you already knew about this and/or want to hunt me for sport, I am dyeing my feathers and moving to Peru.

[EDIT] to say that there's also the Homestuck Slur Replacement Project mod for the UHC! So you can enjoy characters swearing like they ought to but without language that makes you wince and remember what edgy guys in 2005 liked to say. Thank you @ChaiaEran for mentioning it!
