ctrl+B creates a brush and you can use it to mak a tree
There are lots of other steps to get it looking nicer, but this is the basic technique I use. If you create 3 / 4 other leaf patters you can also mix them up to make it look a bit less uniform.

its really simple but it works! saved me so much time over the years. Also works for clouds haha
I had no idea there were custom brushes, much less an easy to use shortcut for them. I love how effective and simple this technique is haha
