It's been wild to watch every liberal news outlet change their tone from defending the invasion of Gaza as obviously just, to trying to both-sides it, to now pretty much universally condemning it but trying as hard as possible to make it seem like Joe Biden is doing everything he can to push for a ceasefire, as if the US is the primary voice for ceasefire, when the US is still financing the entire genocidal operation and Biden is still the most pro-Likud president in history

the speed at which the media flipped once they realized "oh they kill white people too?" is insane

it is very funny to watch mainstream american media news take "you're saying the economy is doing bad but numbers are high so you're scaring americans" as a more serious issue than "manufacturing consent for genocide"

It's actually a shocking example of how socially constructed race is that Palestinians are not seen as white people even though they by and large are literally white and if you take away the cultural markers (keffiyeh, hijabs, etc.) and plopped them down in Ohio everyone would just perceive them as white people (as many Palestinians living in the Us have experienced, white until someone hears their name) or would see them as indistinguishable from Jewish people

absolutely! sometimes my siblings call eachother white as part of a joke, but genuinely, if you didn't know in advance that they were palestinian, you might straight-up not know until told. physical traits only matter if they help the observer figure out your birthplace/heritage (or think they have), or as a post-hoc justification for the race they've already ascribed you; the same person with the same body just gets described differently based on the race they've been assigned, different features highlighted and excluded.
