i think youtube etc should just give their frontend developers paid leave and their higher-ups unpaid leave, because they already have a working UI and are literally only verschlimmbessering it. literally nobody prefers the new youtube ui to the old one enough to justify all of those salaries; most people i know actively hate it. i couldn't name you one good feature from youtube, twitter etc. introduced in the last few years, and yet they pay millions in salaries for some idiots to have dumb ideas and force people to code those. couldn't they just, like, stop paying the idiots who come up with those fucking ideas and give the poor web devs who have to implement this shit their usual salary for free? the CEOs would literally make more money and the users would be happier

like, if its something like bugs.chromium.org vs issues.chromium.org where the old interface was garbage and the newer interface is significantly better i totally get it, but youtube etc. are literally only fucking around and making shit worse while their users scream "no"

(for reference, youtube is doing this horseshit now which inspired this post. the old ui is fine you don't have to change Fucking Everything for no reason)

and then try the youtube studio UI. it just feels wrong. sometimes textboxes will do whatever they want and just show like they're not selected, any UI where you type in a text box and suggestions come up feels jank as shit and move a lot before giving you a 50% chance of selecting something, a lot of things seem to be inconsistent with youtube itself (ex the accounts menu is different from the main YT one) and etc.
