The thing that I keep thinking about in this situation is how completely impossible it is to understand from the outside. Like, even if I were a tech.lgbt user, I don't know how I'd begin to make any sense of this or whether anything I'd read was accurate or not.

every time i see mastodon drama it just reinforces my feeling that fediverse boosters have completely failed to learn from history

they took all the petty tyranny of old-timey webmasters and forum admins, gave them buttons they could use to block entire websites, and then mixed in all the hyperbolic fervor of modern social media politics-posting

what gets me most about this is like. the reason it's incomprehensible is that the tech.lgbt people are doing an impossible piece of diplomacy in the middle of a fight that doesn't really exist outside of a spiral of "proportionate response".
