Heya! I'm Behemoth, and I'm a big ol' nerd. Professionally, I recently became a web developer, but I used to work at the Pike Place Market. FFXIV, JoJo, One Piece, Gundam, etc.

Jesus christ, this quest with the poltergeists in the mansion in BG3 is really bringing out all this game's worst flaws. Fights against invisible opponents who love to hide in big multi-level areas. Just miserable, in every way. I might just load an old save and not get involved, I'm almost at the level cap anyway.

I was thinking about if I'd ever played a game that had this like isometric view, but handled multi-level areas well, and it suddenly hit me: XCOM 2. Moving the camera around and seeing different levels of buildings was never a problem in that game.

Honestly, BG3 would probably be better if it just used a grid for combat, instead of this loose gridless system. It's so annoying how vague all the ranges are, and I never feel like I get anything extra out of it. Like you can kinda perfectly position an AOE attack to hit more enemies sometimes, I guess, but that's not worth the frustration of people getting stuck in doorways or being just out of melee range or whatever.
