Heya! I'm Behemoth, and I'm a big ol' nerd. Professionally, I recently became a web developer, but I used to work at the Pike Place Market. FFXIV, JoJo, One Piece, Gundam, etc.

Ahhhhhhhhhh, I had a nice little trip up to Seattle today.

I was planning on visiting the art museum with my folks, but it turns out the museum is closed on mondays and tuesdays. Whoops! None of us thought to check until this morning, they called me when I was already on the bus, almost there.

So, I just wandered around my old haunts in the Pike Place Market, went and said hi to a bunch of people, including my brother, who's been workin' there more often again. His partner sells t-shirts, they always do crazy business in the summer, but it's been more calm this week.

I was surprised to see that the only place that really seemed busy was the First Starbucks. No line at Piroshky Piroshky or Le Panier! The old chocolatier where I used to get coffee was closed, but something else was going in there. I was glad to see that there's now a new upscale grocery with deli sandwiches where the late lamented Pear used to be.

Ah... man, I do miss going down there. It's changed a lot, but essentially the same as ever. Kinda wish I'd gotten a job in downtown Seattle... but apparently a lot of those office buildings are just straight-up empty now. My company has been looking for a new place, we need more room to hire more people, but the market for business real estate is terrible. Like, there's a ton of empty places, but prices have not gone down, it's insane.

I was planning on getting lunch or something, but honestly I wasn't hungry. Got a grilled cheese sandwich w/ bacon at a cafe on my way up. So, I just did some shopping at H Mart and caught a bus back down to Auburn.

Funny thinking how like... the commute from here, 20 miles away, would probably be about the same amount of time as when I used to commute from West Seattle. Traffic was just that bad... especially when the bridge was closed for like a year.
