It was good, but not as good as the first one, I think.
Felt kinda rushed. They hit all the notes, there was some really spectacular imagery, as well as a bunch of that weird artsy shit that Villeneuve always does, which was great. But it didn't have the time to breathe nor the crystal-clear exposition that I enjoyed so much in the first movie. They didn't even explain the sandworm life cycle!
The resolution honestly ended up feeling very similar to the Lynch film, where the final battle just sort of happens really fast, mostly off-screen, and we wrap immediately after. It rushes forward to a screenching halt. Which I suppose is kind of how the book goes, but it has a much more distant point of view, whereas this feels like it's more right down in it.
Really hope there's like a 3½-4 hour director's cut, eventually.
