I've been meaning to make A Big Post about it, but I do genuinely believe that Oswald was there to assassinate not JFK but the governor (who, mind you, he had tried to assassinate before and who was shot) but that he missed
And then the cars lurching in a panic caused the (hungover) secret service agent in the car behind them to fumble the rifle he was carrying (newly issued, he hadn't received training with it) causing him to accidentally dome JFK. Which, would explain why the secret service was the one who did the heavy lifting of styming the investigation
So to Oswald he pulls the trigger, misses, and a moment later sees JFKs head Just Do That. Can you imagine how pissed he must've been haha
