Heya! I'm Behemoth, and I'm a big ol' nerd. Professionally, I recently became a web developer, but I used to work at the Pike Place Market. FFXIV, JoJo, One Piece, Gundam, etc.
This is by far the most modern kit I've done (I'm not counting the SD ones). The others were all literally from the 80s, made while Zeta Gundam was on the air. It was... interesting. I kind of don't like how they've moved from using ball joints to these more loose click-together things? I guess I can see how they would be more durable over time, but in practice this thing just falls apart at the drop of a hat.
Especially the legs, there are multiple parts that are just itching to fly apart if you so much as breathe on it the wrong way. The most annoying was probably those handles over the knees, they kept popping off every time I tried to move the knee joint. But also the hip connector and ankle connector. Ugh. I'm half tempted to just it exploded and say it's battle damage.
Hopefully ChuChu gets a different, more substantial mech in the future. Or maybe just a super tricked-out demi trainer, that would also be cool. It's funny how tiny it is compared to the old Zeta guys, but those are all explicitly GIGANTIC mobile suits, especially the Baund Doc, so it makes sense.
Finally starting to decorate my desk at the office~
I got an SD Unicorn in the mail yesterday, to complete the trio.
Built a couple li'l guys this weekend, the SD Sinanju and SD Kshatriya.
Kinda wish I had started with some SD kits, they are a lot easier to deal with. Except these ones had a lot of stickers, but honestly that was good practice. Those dang Sleeves and their pretentious decorations all of their suits, calling back to the weird space aristocracy of Zeon.
I thought the Kshatriya looked a bit weird and unfinished, but I went and looked at what the design was like in Unicorn, and... no this is pretty much accurate. It was kind of weird and unfinished there too, those mechanical arms holding the wings out like that.
I'm considering bringing these ones into the office, along with any other SD kits I build in the future. Makes for a nice bit of decoration, without taking too much space.
