Is the Lenovo Thinkpad L14 Gen 2 AMD a good shout? It's got the Clit, it's got replaceable RAM and battery, it doesn't look Shite.

Yes I have one of these, it has the quad core and it lives as my streaming PC, so it's seen lots of use (compute) but not a lot of use (hands on, transport). Feels robust, does what I need it to. The replacement bowl/"soft rim" trackpoint nubs on etsy work very well with it, which is my pereference.
I got a quad core on on ebay for $300 shipped a year or two back, CIB. If you're patient I should think that's a realistic price range, especially as more get cycled out of use.
I can see one on eBay with an 8 core Ryzen 7, 16GB of ram, for 500 quid. Worth a poke?
If you need the 8 core that's a good deal. I'd argue the 4 or 6 is probably sufficient depending on what you're doing, but depends entirely on your workload.
I think they're supposed to be the same TDP but I'm sure the 8 uses more power than the 4, but the 4 has done a very good job staying cool in this chassis. No idea about battery life unfortunately, I'd refer you to notebookcheck on that.
Looking that place up, first off, wow that's a thorough review. Second, they say the L14 is a bit battery weak, but it doesn't seem egregious, 8 or 9 hours. I mostly use my laptop on the couch, I don't wander with it.
notebookcheck is the shit, at least for laptop reviews.
Yeah if you're mostly on couch it should do just fine. That's how mine lives.
