π¦: But what about the other deer? The ones who live a kilometer away? Should I just frolic and celebrate the good weather while they are torn apart by wolves?
π¦(the raccoon is the deer's therapist): Are you going to go help them?
π¦: I do help! A little bit. I'm only a deer myself so I can't do much. I send them a little money (a few bucks) but mostly I feel for them. I argue on their behalf. I have the right kind of opinions about them. I am very pro-deer and anti-wolf and everyone in the Deerternet knows it!
π¦: Does this help them so much that it was worth living in fear? And do you need to be constantly aware of every wolf to give this help?
π¦: Maybe not, but what about my own safety? Sometimes the wolves a kilometer away are heading towards me! It's better for me to know when they're 950 meters away than be helpless until it's 250.
π¦: And yet you see wolves 950m away all the time and you don't run. You worry, but you tell yourself "maybe they're just passing through, maybe they're after someone else; I'll wait and see what happens" until they're within 250m anyway.
π¦: Look, the real problem is that wolves are out there, at any distance. And they'll still be out there no matter whether I know it or not.
π¦: So why is it important for you to know it? Or at least, why is it important for you to know it in intricate detail with multiple daily updates?
π¦: ...I have decided to re-dedicate my life to the appreciation of birdsong and fresh green leaves.
