This is something I was thinking about idly before Eden slid this post my way, but it reminded me that thoughtful writing about adult games is honestly pretty difficult to find, outside of a few specific places.

I'm toying with the idea of putting together a collection of essays about porn/kink/adult/whatever games, to be published both as a pdf on Itch and one at a time on a separate Cohost account. Other details (subject to change since this is obviously somewhat off the cuff):

  • 10-12 essays (subject to interest)
  • 1000-1500 words in length
  • Edited by yours truly
  • Wide variety of subject matter welcomed; reviews of specific titles, personal essays, analysis of trends, and so on
  • Submissions would be paid, I'm thinking something like $50 USD (less than writing of that length is worth but I do not have very much money to throw around)

So: do you have 1000-1500 words worth of interesting thoughts about a specific porn game, or porn games writ large? Do you know someone who might? Let me know in the comments (and also let me know if you have anything to add to this still-extremely-nascent idea of mine). Shares very much appreciated on this!

in reply to @Bigg's post:

It would depend on my living situation, and when you're looking for articles, but I might have something to talk about. Of course I can't really delve into playing them while I'm in the hospital, but once I'm out I can think of some things to talk about. Especially if I go back to the days of yore.

LOL

Honestly I could write an essay about a few different NSFW games, though most of them are incredibly problematic-but-fascinating so I'd probably stick to CoC2 which is mildly problematic-but-fascinating.

Oh I know exactly what game I want to write about. Alright, I want to participate!

Also, I don't care about being paid, I can do this for free if it is more convenient for other people, my living situation is fine.

Sorry but labor deserves compensation, if someone does work they get paid! Also thanks for your interest, I look forward to seeing what you have in mind if this winds up going forward!

Hello, pervert here with a lot of experience with the real indie smut game scene. I'd be down for this, and I have a few topics gnawing on my brain I could pull from (ie Caliross and Adventure High for their absurdly complex mechanics based around mind control, Succubus Research Diary and its extremely lax and gay mood, ect).

i'm a big fan of indie porn games and probably have 1000-1500 words kicking around somewhere i can put together. the first two ideas coming to mind are something about how nsfw games and mods flourish, sometimes underground, in spite of increasing crackdowns on nsfw content online and a cultural hostility towards porn, or alternatively, something more specific about my own journeys trying to find games with hypno/mind control themes when media that outright advertises it sometimes has monetization issues, and maybe showcase some specific titles and creators as well.

I wrote an article about Trials in Tainted Space three years ago that I never got around to publishing anywhere. It'd need some editing - it's about 3000 words - but I'd be willing to pare it down for this. Just means I can concentrate on how it's inexplicably emblematic of Western liberal imperialism

i have at least one not-on-cohost friend, possibly two, who are interested in writing for this; potential topics being discussed are fenoxo, the pressures of the patreon subscription model, and quote "hey christ why is the intersection between "horny games I like" and "horny games not written by terrible people" so fucking thin"

I could contribute to this yes. I'm thinking along the lines of exploring the idea of consent in narratives in games, both porn specific and general (few games have the option both to have sex and to not do so while pursuing the story and romance in the game, which I consider the standard for full consent within the game narrative-play).

Am very interested! would love to write about queer stories in nsfw games, but have some singular interests as well like ladykiller in a bind or Sticky Zeitgeist. Games where theres a lot there besides sexual content but the sexual content makes it more difficult to navigate than regular criticism/analysis. This is a great idea! there is a lack of criticism and analysis for adult games..probably bc of the sanitization of the internet?
