I wonder if I should make a separate account for reposting porn... on the one hand this account has a big following & I like normalizing reposting porn on main, on the other hand there's so MUCH new porn after this weekend that I worry if I keep reposting everything I'm into it'll choke out non-porn stuff. Much to ponder

Though cohost's mechanisms for letting folks control what they wanna see wrt content are really good, I think with the way the site works right now, having a separate page to repost porn makes sense, simply for the practical purpose of not overwhelming your followers' timelines. Alternatively, a custom tag followers can opt to mute would work.

The main thing i think cohost doesn't deal super well right now with is virality, because of post duplication and the deliberately limited timeline refresh means that something that gets shared a lot will simply take over the whole feed. With social circles still being relatively small, that leads to folks just seeing the same piece over and over, innocently shared by like-minded friends.

Unlike tumblr where this problem is simply something you can scroll past even if you don't decide to hide or mute a post, on cohost you kinda have to page back a few times to get different posts if something starts gaining a lot of traction.

TBH, if staff get the time or opportunity, I think being able to apply the "Hide Shares" filter globally instead of just when seeing someone's account would head off these issues entirely. Like if you wanna see only new posts for a bit, hit the toggle and then turn the firehose back on when you're ready.

Yeah installing @nex3's deduplicator has helped a lot on browser but it's still something I notice on mobile. Prior to the latest exodus it wasn't that big of a deal but with the way the TL is hopping atm it's got me feeling a little self-conscious whenever I go on a reposting jag

Honestly man part of my reluctance comes from the fact that I'm running out of good account names lmao
