i think if you contributed a vote to this award winner for this particular category you shouldn't be allowed to play videogames ever again. you're banned. you had your chance, you biffed it.

It'd be so funny if this was a honeypot to find even more toxic players to ban like they did with the DOTA coal gifts this year. Like, if you voted for TLOU1 in Best Soundtrack then today you wake up to find a gift in your inventory telling you that you've lost all Sound privileges in your Steam games for the next year because clearly they're wasted on you anyway

Like a third of these awards reek of irony and/or ballot stuffing, it's nuts. I can't imagine anywhere on earth where Starfield gets an award for innovation and Red Dead 2's PC port is considered a "labor of love." I know enough about the PC port of RDR2 that just like GTA Online, its multiplayer mode is overrun with cheaters that command godlike control over the game world, and friends talk as if it's only gotten 1-2 patches in the last couple years, one of which was apparently for the Social Club launcher and not even the game itself.

The whole thing is pretty gross.

see i think the OST with the MOST is Void Stranger's but unfortunately as much as i wish fifty hundred million people played THAT game they haven't yet. but like also i feel like literally any of the other four finalists would've been better than TLOU in this category

in reply to @erica's post:

both? i have to assume? atomic heart won best visuals or whatever and as far as i can tell the only people who go to bat for that game are r/games weirdos who stand it based solely on it being a "small team" game. like, the game sucks and "USSR but it became a utopia" isn't especially novel. it didn't win because it actually has merit, it just won because the same people who yell at you on twitter for saying it sucks all threw their votes in.

idk. steam awards are dumb.

I do find it a shame since the visuals and award categories are nice, steam did a nice job with it but then so many people voting in it just are taking the piss. Especialy with the Red Dead 2 best ongoing 2023 game award nomination.

I would like to see other gaming platforms run awards like these but I guess we just have to staw with indepdently run or smaller game awards for indie games and the like.
