that is really disappointing :/ I don't know a ton about game jams, is there a compelling reason for banning nsfw sometimes? like, i can imagine a juried competition where the judges did not want to have to play nsfw games. but if no one is structurally required to play all the games like, who is it hurting to include nsfw games?

There's a lot of kids on itch, so it makes sense for all-ages jams or jams run by organizations to restrict it. It'd be nice to have greater acceptance of nsfw content, but I get why it's not for every jam. I just really wish they wouldn't list them like that !!!

Jam submission pages are one of the handful of places where Itch doesn't filter out 18+ games by default (alongside profiles and collections. There are still age gates on the games' pages themselves of course), so for jams that expect to have kids participate I think it's reasonable to restrict 18+ games from being submitted. (And of course, for, like, YouTubers' jams and stuff like that, it makes sense since they wouldn't be able to play them on stream or anything like that)

But yeah, hateful content isn't allowed on Itch at all, so it's kinda silly to make a rule against it, and I definitely agree that putting the two on the same level just feels bad.
