The original game ad campaign for Quake featured no screenshots, even in double pages. Instead, it had the following statement:

The most important PC game ever

Back then, this was just posturing, as indicated by the family claiming that Quake is for everyone, while it's clearly a mature rated game. However, you could argue that the shooter's prophecy came true. This is the door that opened it all; popularizing multiplayer and eSports as we know it and spawning the hero shooter with Team Fortress. The game is solely responsible for a lot of the gaming landscape today.

I have a few questions though: Who is this one model that they pasted endlessly in the beach ad? Do they still have those knitted sweaters and branded swimsuits and can I have them?
