Do y'all have things in art that you avoid? Like you know you're not good at working with certain colors, or body parts, or whatever, so you just work around it? Asking for a friend.

I used to have a lot of stuff I'd actively avoid cause I felt sort of intimidated by the challenge, but these days, not so much. The main thing that still gets me is modern building exteriors. It's a lot of work to properly construct everything in perspective, and it sort of needs a lot of care and detail if you don't want it to come off as a cardboard facade.

Sometimes, kinda. I am not good at backgrounds, landscapes, action poses or funky angles but not being good at something just means it's smth that needs practice. One reason I started making a comic was to force myself out of my comfort zone to draw stuff I normally avoid. Some things are still too tricky for me, so I try to find creative ways to impart the thing I'm struggling with, without over-spending time on something that isn't the focus of a page/panel. Drawing is supposed to be fun, so forcing oneself to draw only difficult things will make it less rewarding, but avoiding them overall slows down growth. Gotta find that happy medium
